Positive Discipline is a program designed to teach young people to become responsible, respectful and resourceful members of their communities. The teachings of Positive Discipline are filled with non-punitive, respectful methods that will incorporate kindness and firmness into parenting, help parents get to the core of their child’s misbehavior, bring more joy into the home and give parents a sense of accomplishment! This evidence based approach teaches social and emotional life skills that weave character development, emotional awareness and social skills training into the everyday routines of life with young children.
APPS is proud to be internationally recognized as a Positive Discipline Lab School. We have a long term commitment to implementing this philosophy at all levels of our program – children, parents and teachers. In addition to being highly skilled in child development and early childhood education, all APPS teachers are certified as Positive Discipline Early Childhood Educators and use these skills when working with children and parents.
As an APPS family member, we want to support you in learning respectful relationship skills that will help you to be your best self and model what you want for your children. As a parent working in our active classroom environment, you will have ample opportunity to practice these skills regularly and build relationships with the children in your class and their families. In-class Positive Discipline coaching is included one week each month on your working day for the classroom volunteer caregivers. Optional parenting classes are also offered on campus twice a year to further support family learning.
