APPS families help run the classroom, maintain the school, and serve on the Board and committees. Parent participation lowers our cost and helps us form a tight community of parents working together to raise all children in a supportive, loving environment. Our participation requirements summarized below are designed to keep the school running smoothly, and to spread the workload around in an equitable manner.

Discounts and Notes:
- Application Fee (includes $2.08 credit card fee) is due with the application form, and is non-refundable. The fee is per family, per school year. (For example, if you apply for two children within the same school year, your application fee will still be $52.08.)
- Waitlist Fee: If the class you would like to attend is full, you may put your child on the waitlist by paying a $25 Waitlist Fee. That amount will be applied towards the Application Fee when the class opens up.
- Annual Fee is non-refundable, and is due before classes start in the fall with Registration Forms, or before your child’s first day of class if you join later in the year. It includes insurance, materials and other miscellaneous expenses.
- Siblings receive a discount on the Annual Fee (amount to be determined prior to start of registration period), applied to the lower amount owed. For example, if a family has one child in 2-Day and another in 3-Day, then the family will pay the full Annual Fee for the 3-Day class, and the discounted amount for the sibling in 2-Day class.
- Siblings receive a 20% tuition discount, applied to the lower tuition amount owed.
- Full-year tuition paid in full will receive a 5% discount.
Family Responsibilities
APPS is a Parent Participation Pre-school. We as a community work together to make APPS the wonderful place it is. Over the course of the school year, families are required to fulfill the following participation obligations:
Early Explorers (1-Day Class)
- A family member is required to stay during class. This is not a drop-off program.
- After class, clean up an assigned “station”.
- When assigned by the teacher, attend a parent/teacher conference.
- Attend the two General Meetings that have Parent Education topics. These are usually in October and April, on the first Thursday evening of the month.
2-Day, 3-Day and 5-Day Classes
- Attend Orientation on your workday during Ease-In Week at the beginning of the school year.
- Participate in your child’s classroom one day per week, per child, and attend the parent conference at the end of class, as scheduled.
- Attend one of three “Beautification Parties” as scheduled.
- Attend one “Yard Maintenance Weekend”.
- Volunteer for one hour during one fundraising event.
- Attend monthly General Meetings (typically first Thursday evening of each month).
- Participate in a committee to support school operation and maintenance.
Families with more than one child enrolled may work with the Board when determining how to meet the requirements.
Participating family members(s) can be parents, grandparents or other caregivers & adult family members.
